Now In: About D. Morgan

A native of Atlanta, GA Doris Whitten Morgan began showing her work at "sidewalk art shosws in 1972. Today she is one othe most published and widely distributed artist in America. Ms. Morgans work is often easy to recognize, not only is it peaceful and relaxing, but her tendencies to intertwine text with images and to extend her boundries by using creative matting are her popular trademarks. She has made a name for herself with a unique blend of sentimental verse and beautiful watercolor artistry. Doris now saves verse as they come to her in a special filing system for later use on a paintings. The painting then becomes an interpertation of the verse.

Doris studied art formally at The Museum School of Art in Atlanta, but she continues to credit her father, the late John Lovic Whitten, as her most influential teacher. With paint and pen, Doris has fashioned God given talent into a unique style which is unequaled. She uses many of her own emotions as inspirations for her work. Since most people have experienced some of the same joy of love, and as Doris often states, "It has taken me 27 years to become an overnight success i'm just one of those slow-talking, highly driven people, she insist's. I will probably leave this earth with a paint brush in my hand- but hopefully a long time from now."
